Vacancy for a Parish Clerk

Rufford is a friendly rural parish in north Nottinghamshire served by a progressive and proactive council. Due to a retirement, Rufford Parish Council has a vacancy for a part-time clerk.

18 hours per month. Salary: £9.37 per hour (SCP18)


The post holder will be responsible for making sure the council complies with statutory policies and legal requirements and ensuring that the decisions taken by the parish council are carried out. The main duties are:

  • Organizing and attending meetings
  • Writing agenda, taking minutes and dealing with correspondence
  • Maintaining and updating the parish website
  • Managing the financial records of the council, including payroll

This is a home-based position with working hours being flexible to include regular evening meetings held in Rufford. Applicants must be self-motivated with an interest in the local community. Experience in the role of parish clerk is preferred but not essential. The successful applicant will possess:

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Good organizational and administration skills
  • Financial and skills and familiar with bookkeeping
  • Good IT skills and be computer literate
